Hi I have just got hold of a CLARKE PRO 90 mig are they ok for working on cars and what are they caperble of doing..I picked it up for £80 is thay a fare price..
Should be a nice little welder for car panels, mate. Should do up to about 2 mm nicely, and you shouldn't need more than that. But even with edge prep it would have a job with anything thicker, so if you need to do thick stuff occasionally get yourself a cheap arc welder.
Price is good at £80 if it's been looked after, as new ones come in at around £200 with vat. You need to check it over carefully; you may need consumables like new liner, tips, and maybe a shroud, but these aren't very expensive. The Weldequipe shop on here should be able to supply all these if you aren't near a supplier.
