Had a problem with this welder. The wire feed on it is a bit erratic for some reason. I have checked the spool holder and the pressure roller on the motor and played around with the clamping pressure with no joy. The problem is when I try and do spot welds sometimes it works and looks good and the next time there is a slight split second hesitation and a poor weld. It's just not consistent enough .I've been trying to weld up a patch panel on an old Micra which has thin sheet metal(0.6mm). In the past this welder has been really good. Haven't used it in about a year. But it has been stored indoors and not exposed to the elements. To be honest it's only been used about 5 times! Something else I have noticed if the torch and wire feed are fairly straight it runs better as soon as there's a slight kink in the wire feed it plays up. Unfortunately under the car with a tarp over the car it's quite difficult to get the torch feed dead straight to machine .Could it be worth changing the wire liner? I release the wire roller clamp a pulled the wire through manually just to see how easily the wire goes through the the wire liner and it seemed ok to me. I'm using brand new roll of mig wire and put a new tip on too. Using hobby 5 gas co2/argon mix. I'm lucky that I've got an old welder (Clarke 145 mig lying around). Luckily I've managed to weld in one patch so far during this crap weather outside seem to be getting nowhere fast lol. MOT is due in December so don't want to hang around! It's just annoying the Pro 90 is the definately better welder for car bodywork as the 145 is a bit more more aggressive I find and the amps don't go as low as the 90 is capable of I find you have to be careful on the triggerwith the 145 otherwise blow a hole lol. The wire speed on the 145 is more sensitive on the and the motor seems to have a bit more power. If anyone has any tips on what to do with the Pro 90 I'd be really grateful. Don't really want to go back to machine mart and pay them to test it as it's out of warranty and if I can fix it myself that would be great. Sorry if I've rambled on a bit too. Thanks
P.s. I have read on here that the wire speed on these is bit temperamental so sounds like I'm not the only one that's had problems...
