Have a look at these, 650w motor and £212.00 I bought one a couple pf weeks back. Goes down to 120rpm I spent all day Thursday driling 12mm holes in 10 mm strip and it seemed quite happy, Free next day delivery as well. No detectable play or slop in any of the moving parts.

Also have a look at their cross vices, not wonderful precision things but makes life easier when you need to make small adjustments in the porition of large work pieces.
