Just reserved my new mig at mm the guy I spoke to asked if I had a 16amp supply saying it won't run on a 13amp plug any advice ?
What, like putting a 16A plug on it instead of a 13A you mean?you can convert a 13amp to 16amp with simple adapter plug anyways mate. there pennys to buy really.
The cable isn't normally the issue as machines supplied without plugs are normally intended for use with a plug rated higher than 13A.its all well and good having the plug rated at 16 amps but the cable needs to be too
As Brightspark says, it's when people fit a 16A plug on their machine then have a cable with a 13A plug on one end and a 16A socket on the other and think it miraculously magics up another 3 amps when you have to start asking questions.
The fuse doesn't go in the plug top, it goes in the body of the plug, then you screw the top on.

Easy, look at it. Does it have holes or pins? An inlet is a male (plug) because the live section has to be shrouded, making that a female.
after 40 years u might have lost the plotI think after nearly 40 years as a spark I know the difference between a plug and a socket
