I haven't been able to find any service manuals nor anything but "send it in to be serviced". This one hasn't been used for a few years and had nasty fuel in it. Although I drained it and refilled it, it will not run. Feeding it neat fuel down its neck allows it to run for a few seconds, so it is definitely fuel related.

can you get the casing off? Store level doesn't keep service manuals. have you got an ultrasonic cleaner? dump the carb in there. that usually fixes them. Then only use quality fuel. Aspen for the final run of the season.

Thank you, but that is just the owner's manual which refers you to service department. I clearly need to get the carburettor off and give it a good clean and was hoping to read up on the dismantling first.

Yes I can take it apart, I just wanted to read up on the assembly first. No ultrasonic cleaner sadly.

Make sure to take pics & be very sure where the carb linkages & springs go.
(Maybe not as critical as a non-inverter genny which need the governor working spot on - but still need to be right!
Ditto with any mixture screw settings

I have had another look and opened the drain valve to remove some more stale fuel. However, I can't see how to remove the float bowl. The hex at the bottom suggests that is the fixing, but it resists reasonable effort.

Assuming the bowl is empty, how does it refill? I have pulled it many times with nothing more appearing at the drain.
Removing the output of the fuel filter shows fuel at that point. Tank is full of fresh fuel.

The hex head at the bottom of the bowl should come out to allow the bowl to be removed. If you turn the fuel on it should dribble out of the needle valve until you lift the float up.

They are a pretty generic carb style, this is a Honda one off my mower.

Spray some brake/clutch cleaner/easy start in the carb and pull it over if it tries to start/fire it's the carb.

Just by running the engine on a cleaner for a short while it may shake the needle valve loose if it's stuck.

These dinky cards are renowned for gumming up as the orifices are so small.
Unleaded evaporates leaving a varnish-like residue that blocks it all up.
Chances are it'll take a couple of sessions in an ultrasonic to have a chance of running properly.

Draining the machine & running the carb dry is best chance of it surviving inactivity / storage unless you want to run it on Aspen fuel once you get it going

If you need to, syringe from chemist.

I was doing quite well until I disturbed the mixture screw which I thought was a jet. Then to make matters worse, I have lost the tiny throttle spring off this white component. I doubt that there is any chance of getting one, so that might be a scrap generator now.

Is it part of the carburettor though? It couples the servo motor to the throttle butterfly, unless that all comes as an assembly?

The cost/time scale involved to obtain the part, it's probably cheaper/quicker delivery to buy a complete carb from the far east.
