Hi
I've just started testing my spot welding skills with this welder and finding most of the welds are not holding too well, some appear really nice looking on the surface but basically haven't fused, others are showing signs of blowing holes in the metal on the back edge but appear to hold well.
If you are using zinc plated metal should the piece where you're welding have the zinc ground off?
How do you guage the tightness of the clamping? I adjusted the rods to fit two pieces of 1mm clamped together and then adjust the trim for the tightness up a bit? Should the clamp "Clamp" the workpiece or just so it is a sliding fit? Currently mine is slightly holding it but you can slide it back and forth with a bit of pressure.
There is also a pulse setting and continuous, I'm not exactly sure what the difference is, the pulse seems to hold run longer than continuous.
I'm only just getting my head round it and am going to re-read the booklet but any advice much appreciated.
Thanks
Andrew
