Having downsized and sold my 'copy' miracle bender, a good mate want's about 60 frames made from 40mm x 5mm and offered to buy the steel and a Clarke bender for the job and I could keep it as a thank you... we work together and I do a weld on each frame for him........ a good deal in my eye's.
It arrived and a sturdy wall mount was soon made and it was ready for use, the problem became obvious, these benders for full use tend to work on anything up to about a 300 degree swing, especially on tight bends, this means the wall causes an obstruction on anything longer than about 200mm.
The previous miracle bender accepted the steel in line with the back wall and bent out into the garage space, no such luck with the Clarke.
Looks like the thinking cap will have to go on, I deffo don't want it mounted on the garage floor taking up space, I don't even want to drill holes in the floor at all, so where it is will do for small tasks and something designed to move it away from the wall for larger tasks but still offer some strength.
However.. a quick new owners review: For less than £70 with a VAT free voucher these are a bargain, complete with a full range of dies they are capable of many weird and wonderful shapes, once you have stopped swearing and pulling your hair out figuring what to put where.
I have played a bit and tried a bit of 40mm x 8mm flat, it bent it into a perfect 50mm dia U shape with total ease.
My first mod's will be the longer pins that allow working on the top of the frame instead of inside it.
Clarke stuff often get's slated but in this case I consider you get a hell of a lot for the money and an item that does the job well.
