I just bought a second hand Clarke 90en, unfortunately the thermal overload light is on constantly, the wire still feeds, but as I haven't got a mask I haven't tried to see if it will weld yet.
out of curiosity I just decided to try it out on a bit of scrap metal (looking away from it), and it all seems to be working fine,
I thought the light only came on when the thermal overload had tripped ?

Normally if the overload light is on then everything on the welder stops working, even the wire feed. Are you sure it's the O/L light and not just the power light?
If it still works with the light on then I wouldn't worry too much about it.
