Hi all,
First post so bare with me, I've being welding for years on and but mainly stick and oxy-accetalyne, so I'm new to mig and thought I would start with a Clarke 90en, especially as I've just started my first project, a 1978 vw van and clarkes quoted 4mm material capacity.
Well I've now got a problem, I'm trying to attach a panel by plug welding both peices are approximatley 1.2mm thick, I'm using clarkes 0.9mm flux cored wire, but cannot get any penatration at all on the rear metal. I've even tried drilling a small hole in the rear metal to try and aid penatration but no luck.
Would I have anymore success using 0.6mm wire and C02 or Argosheild gas or am I expecting too much from the little 90en and should upgrade.
If upgradeing what should I be looking for to power wise to cover all bases during a restoration project such as mine.
Thanks in advance.
