clarke 90 wire speed unsteady

i cant say ive noticed this during use , but today i need some mig wire and ran off a length , i noticed the feed speed is up and down

anything i can do to sort or help this as i imagine it effects the quality of my welds

When you say you ran off a length of wire did you set the wire feed to near max to run the wire off quickly? If so then you were seeing the motor run at or near full wack and so are seeing the limitation of the wire feed motor/gearbox also the electronic control would be going flat out adn not regulating so well.
If you were just using the normal speed of feed then you may need to generally check over the wire feed, namley at gun en the tip then the liner, was the hose streight when you were feeding? when was the liner last replaced? are the wire feed rollers clean and free from rust in the groove? is the wire nice and clean/rust free? is the spool able to turn easly on the spool holder (a small amound of drag is required to stop spool run-on) if above checkout then you may need to checkout the feed motor/gearbox.

tried it on normal and near max , both were a bit random speed wise

you have a point there the hose was coiled round a bit, i will try it straight
