Evening all,
New here, but hoping your combined experience can help.
Got the welder out today (Clarke 230TE, about 15 years old). The wire feed and gas runs for 3 -5 s, and then stops - I can hear the motor stop, and the gas solenoid clunk.. Release and squeeze the trigger, and it runs for a few seconds again. Repeat ad infinitum...
I've shorted out the switch in the torch, and that makes no difference. I'm thinking PCB...
Visual examination of PCB shows no damage, and a new one is about £125 from weldequip (Clarke haven't yet quoted).
I'm kinda reluctant to fork out that much on a hunch; any other diagnostic tests that I can do with a multimeter?
Thanks, David
