Hi, my trusty old 165E developed this problem some time ago, and I thought I had cured it, but it has reappeared. Turn the welder on, start to set up, and out of the blue, the main contactor pulls in , sometimes it feeds wire, sometimes not, sometimes it opens the gas valve, sometimes not. sometimes it turns the transformer on, sometimes not. after a few seconds the contactor drops out again. and all is quiet. It will do this several times then seems to right itself, but lately it has got worse, and I need a fix. when it originally happened a couple of years ago, A guy at Clarke said it was caused by dust and damp on the circuit board, and a good blow out did seem to cure it for a while. Anyone else got any ideas, In case anyone thinks it is the torch wiring/switch, it still does it with the switch and wiring disconnected. There may be the ghost of an old welder in the machine, and he wants to be "on";-)
