Hi, I've just bought a Clarke 160TM Mig welder this morning.
I was following the instructions to set it up and got to the part where the shroud is removed. Due to it being very tight I had to use grips to remove it, once it was off I saw the gas diffuser & the spring, however the spring has been stretched out and will no longer sit in the grooves of the thread.
I'm currently ringing machine mart about it, however they seem to be saying that they cannot swap the individual part in store & will need to go through the parts department who will in turn post the replacement part to me.
My question to you guys is; is the spring needed, or is there any other way I can use the welder without the spring in (temporarily) until a replacement is sorted?
The gas diffuser/spring now look like this:
Thanks,
Max
