my clarke 150 en turbo has broke after years of faithfull service.
was looking to buy maybe a sip topmig or a clarke 160te turbo.
can anyone suggest what the best welder is.
well mr weldquip
i was welding the other day my wire jammed and went into the machine and shorted out something because my sire speed went top speed.
i turned off machine and pulled the wire out, turned it on and it still goes top speed when trigger is pressed, there is no variable speed when turning the knob.
i took the machine apart and have taken out the circuit board that incorperates the speed knob.
i can only assume that the wire must have shorted out in something on that board?
any ideas mr weldquip.
if it can be fixed ill get it done and use it as a spare welder.
i was looking on the forums at the portamig 181 but i cant afford 500 quid for a welder.
also could you give me a price for a 160te?
If there's no control over the wire feed speed it's the PCB alright, must have shorted as you say. A replacement PCB will be around £45-£50 depending on age, how old is the machine?

Ah well, it owes you nothing then! And to go with your first post, "Years of faithfull service", I think you have answered your own question there!
