hi can anyone help i have had my clarke sitting in my garage for about 10years ( i think noah used it before i got it to weld up the arc) and i have decided that now is the time i need to get my beach buggy back on the road (lots of welding required).
So i brought some new 0.8mm wire and got some gas, cleaned out the torch, liner and mended the wirefeed rollers so it feeds the wire.
I studied the manual got some scraps of 2mm mild and i made a whole heap of bogies, so i threw the manual away cranked it up to number 11 , still bogies ( just seems to be lacking in power!!!. Not to be defeated i tried some 1mm plate only time i got a result was with the set on max power and the wire feed on 1. i tried my mates 130amp set which welded no problem.
i have taken the cover off , nothing looks black on the pcb , voltage accross the torch to return increases when the power settings are increased, as does the speed of the wire feed HOWEVER the wire feed speed does not seem to change from 0- 10 , i check the variable resistor for the wire speed and got a change in resistance when i moved the knob. The diodes all look intacked and connected.
does anyone have any ideas
also just been looking at sets on ebay some guy is selling CLARKE MIG WELDER 160E turbo , he says, am only selling due to lack of space and a nagging wife. this guy needs to sort his priorities!! (sell the wife or make a patio)
thanks spider
