My wife’s Citroen C4 Grand Picasso (horrible thing) has a few electrical gremlins.
Messages on the display:
“Electrical Fault” (what exactly?)
“The hand brake is faulty” (it wouldn’t surprise me, but it seems to be working normally).
The key fobs don’t work.
There’s a high pitched squealing noise, like a dog whistle, drives you mad.
I took it to a local auto electrician who’s always been good in the past. He pulled out the radio so the squealing noise is gone, but it’s needed for programming the dash display.
He said he couldn’t do anything about the other issues as it needs to go back to Citroen to check the “BSI” (ECU?) which possibly needs a reset. He thinks the keys and the random errors are down to this unit which is notoriously carp.
Not getting far with Citroen for a price, they don’t pick up the phone.
Are there other people about who can do this sort of thing? I found one place but would need to remove it and send it to them which I don’t much fancy.
There’s a procedure to reset it manually I’ve found, switch off the ignition press this button, count to ten and pat head while rubbing tummy etc. - am I likely to make it worse / properly break it doing this?
