Citric acid types?

I have not used citric acid before, I have son horseshoes etc to clean of surface rust, (some worse that others) Is citric acid all the same strength or are some better than others? Also appreciate some tips on methods and ratio's,

It's bought as granules. You can mix it to any strength you want.

It seams to be the same.
I use 1tbls to 1lltr of water.

Then just leave it.

When you remove the horseshoes. Bake dry with a hot air gun.
Seal with wax and linseed oil. They come up a treat.

I generally buy the food safe stuff...we use it to clean our kettle and other stuff in the house so I just decided that would be safer...and maybe the quality would be better too.
