When tapping a hole it's useful to hold the tap in the chuck of a pillar drill and turn it by hand to ensure the tap goes into the hole squarely, but it can be difficult to turn the chuck, so I made this:
It's 2 big-end bearing caps from a Metro (K-Series) ground down slightly and then drilled and tapped to take the 5/16 UNF bolts.
As a precaution unplug the drill from the mains when using it!
