From a Paint Inspector’s point of view, I’m always glad to offer advice.


I also wanted to clear something up: Jotun don’t make Rustbuster products. Unfortunately, this misunderstanding recently led someone on the forum to buy Jotun hardener for a Rustbuster product, which damaged the paint and caused unnecessary costs.


Just a reminder — not everything you read online is accurate.

Welcome to the forum. I just added a screenshot from your website to your other answer, before I saw this. Have Rustbuster ever sold other companies products? It is very common I know but as you say confusion about it can lead to issues.

Just to clarify — we supply paints from almost every major manufacturer, and we do provide Jotun products to a local castle for property maintenance. The confusion has mainly come from branding and the fact that we’ve supplied a 1:1 mix for years. Jotun had a 1:1 system, but so did PPG, Axalta and International.

Our new formula is a 3:1

Somewhere along the way, the Jotun link stuck.

Thread 'Rustbuster dont do the Milspec ASTM wax any more'

As per the title, they no longer do this and are only offering lanlin based products.

I really liked the ASTM wax and have used gallons of it over the years and found it highly effective. Primarily i used on suspension parts and subframes etc on cars, areas where using underseal just looks crap.

Any thoughts on an equivalent product?
