Frame cut, bent and welded up.
Forks made, wheel carriers welded into position.
Put together to see how it looks

Different front wheel, this is just one that was handy at the time.

I might need to lengthen the frame as it seems a bit short

I think it is the 6" nail that puts me off a little, sort of does not look like a detailed engineered part...BUT...good for you, at least you are getting off your backside and having a go....and it's fun!

"Tha looks like a monkey on a mangle" is the phrase that springs to mind We used to pull the gear cable out and tape it round to keep it in a gear we wanted.

Mount the three speed cable control on the upper rear bar frame ( left or right hand side ) by the saddle that way you can go slow speeds for wheelies and peg tricks . You'll need a decent length slotted peg for the rh side rear and have a protector on it to stop you wrecking the three speed cable set up

I'd put the seat on back to front as well so that when doing a decent wheelie you have some where to sit so you can ride it like a unicycle.

The kids are already complaining they can't reach the floor to put their feet down so seat lowering is a priority, I'll probably move it further back over the back wheel slightly.

The nail is only temporary (maybe ) I have an idea for fixing it in the lowest gear that is a little easier on the eye

It's just an old local saying for something out of proportion. His expression made me think of Karl Fogarty's "race face"

Got the fork strengtheners fitted today, it feels a lot more stable.

Welded two 10mm weld nuts into the top of the fork tubes

The fork tubes are welded most of the way round on the top and stitched to the originals under the lower strengthening plate

This is how they look fitted

The top plate slips over the centre of the head tube and bolts onto the top of the fork tubes.

It's probably a bit overkill but better safe than sorry.

That is an interesting solution to the forks thing.
One of the the great things about this nonsense is the way everybody solves problems in their own way.
