I like chop cut re-build and the American programmes- I have mostly no problem with the build quality on those. However, Mark Evans, the poor waste of time attempt at humour with "Pete Mate" really gets on my nerves and the constant distraction of looking at completed cars at classic car shows and some of Mark Evans workmanship is poor too- for instance on the MGB- he cut sections from a high quality replacement inner wheel arch panel - fair enough, but then LAP spot welded them in instead of cutting the rust out of the inner wing accurately and butt mig welding the new piece cleanly in.
Talk about creating overlapped rust traps! and in a vulnerable area of the car.
Also- no evidence of zinc weld thru primer between spot welded panels. No wonder Evans had to spend so long seam sealing- if he hadn't welded in so many bodge overlaps he wouldn't have all those rust traps to seal.
The best bit of the program was watching Les from Stoke and his abillity to make up special tools from bits and pieces to remove hubs and re-fit suspension- very clever, shame Mark Evans kept taking the micky out of the proper mechanic.
