choosing a pipe bender

Hi, I'm looking into purchasing a pipe bender, seen one on ebay for aound £80. will try upload the pic for advice, I'm looking to bend mildsteel tubing 1&2ins in diameter, wall thickness 3-4mm would this be capable, ive asked the seller questions but cant wait for the reply haha. Your view greatly apprieciate. (hope pic loads)

or a 42 mile long extension bar on the handle

we use one of those in college to bend 22mm conduit, and it struggles with that, and its only 2mm wall. we've bent the handle more times than is countable, and its snapped and welded back together about 5 times.

hahaha I'll give it a skip then, any recomendations for the above requirements though. its not essential at this point as will be using standard m.s, box sectional but thought if this is a bargain for what i need later down the road then I may as well purchase. Thanks Chaps. Andy.

ive been looking into hydraulic benders, some are quite cheap, but they look it too, and some are quite pricey but look strong.

all depends on your budget and how often your going to use it to justify the price

First question is what are you using it for, as all the dies for those benders are for pipe, and not tube.

Do a search for the difference between tube and pipe.

I have one like that, its a copper tube (or conduit) bender. However, I made new dies for it to suit up to 1 1/4" tube, and welded up a handle extension. I've bent 1 1/4 x 2.6mm wall tube without too much problem, but it takes some effort, I weigh 23 stone, and I have to park the car on one leg of the bender to keep it from lifting.

Does a nice bend tho.

Thanks All for the imput. Thanks for the pics B.P. Basically My requirement is not essential just was looking into a new design flair within a piece of equipment i was designing, something new really. However there is this other Ive noticed on ebay it's a
Sealey PBS99. 14/16 ton hydraulic pipe bender claims are as follows.
bends upto 180deg (3x60bends) Die sizes 1/2" 3/4" 1" 1.1/4" 1.1/2" etc upto 3"
cost @ £189.90. Please could You give Your views on this if poss Thanks.

It depends what you're trying to do - which isn't clear?

that will bend pipe. It will not bend tube nicely. You'd be better off with a rotary draw type bender for nice smooth tube curves. But you'll get the job done with that one. just depends what you want.

Do a search on google and on this forum, people ask about benders ALL the time on a multitude of fora.

ive got a hilmor bender the same and its 50 years old . its bent more 22mm conduit than u have had hot dinners and the handle or any other part on it hasnt bent youngsters 2day
