I have just bought a second hand starter motor, but it has arrived with a chipped tooth.
I know I can send it back, but it is for a project and the flange will need modifying.
Would it be possible to weld the tooth with a mig welder and then file/grind it to match the rest of the tooth (about 4mm of the 12mm long tooth is missing).
I know it would probably be alright at starting with the chip, but the flywheel is very expensive and I don't want to risk chewing up the ring gear
