yeah they will be fine on small work, this is stainless steel (not sure if its freecutting or notl, and the crankshaft is 1.7mm diameter for most of its length
ohh and the crankpin was 1.0mm diameter
for those that say you can't use carbide insterts do do small parts and I was taking finishing cuts of less than 0.001"
