Chinese heaters

Picked up a heater FOC non runner.
fan runs, pump pumps, glow plug glows, goes through a short cycle then stops.
There is a sensor on the outside of the burner it appears to be O/C i presume it is an overheat unit, don't want to just short it out, have found over the years this can be terminal.
If anyone knows if o/c or s/c the norm would be nice or has a dead burner they want rid of.

It's a thermistor you can get them on eBay for a few quid.

Won't start without it. Used to control fan speed and other functions...

Slight derail but am I to understand these cheapo heaters are ideal shed warming devices? Do they only run on diesel or is paraffin ok too? I guess they are/were also boat heating so would one ok to be used in the house, just to take the chill off? Finally, are they cost effective in comparison with other methods?

yes they can be used in a house just have to seal them a little better at the joints

thats about the most common failure for those heaters, cheap as chips for a new sensor, buy a few to have in stock though, they are chinese made after all!!

I have one, 100% great, you do need to run the exhaust outside, my mate has his on a work bench and runs the exhaust out of the letterbox, he has a rented small industrial unit, builds spoke wheels, you could easily run it indoors provided you can sort the exhaust issue, no smells or issues, mine run off an alarm battery, 7ah? run for a couple of hours before I have to swop batteries, will make a better system one day!
