We had a blocked toilet at home a few years ago, I looked for a man hole but was unable to find one , ours didn’t run into our next door neighbours
so in desperation I removed the toilet hoping to get some rods down from above , still no go , so I used a pipe bung to seal the pipe, took the mesh off of the stack pipe and managed to get the garden hose out of our landing window into the stack pipe then turned the hose on. A few minutes later there was a whoosh and we haven’t had a problem since.

My first holiday abroad was on a campsite in Spain.
I went to use the loo in the shower block and the cleaner was in there but I was so desperate I just had to go.
She clearly took exception at me doing so as she poked her dirty mop up under the door and flopped it into my pants.

97% concentrated sulphuric acid will do the trick, but be very careful!

Wrt sodium hydroxide, the most you can dissolve in water is about 100g / litre, and using a highly concentrated solution like that might give rubber seals a tough time and certainly will be bad on your skin. However, I would tend to start off by putting down a litre with say 20g/litre, and assuming there is at least a little bit of flow, keep that up for 2 or 3 days and see what happens. Ditto, anything that says its highly concentrated sulphuric acid (~98%), I think I'd see what happens with say 25% solution for a day or two. Don't think sodium bicarb will do very much.

some caustic soda seems to have melted the jobbie that was stuck....i put a few buckets of warm water in for a while to soften things then the soda mixed in a bucket

We have a drain manhole out front of the house but the downstairs loo & kitchen is at the back of the house so there isnt a huge degree of fall. It has blocked twice in the last 30 years. Last time i got the pressure washer out with its shiny new drain snake out . Great things they are, four angled rearwards jets to the sides clear the pipe sides & drag it forward plus a forward facing jet to clear blockages. All was going well & the blockage was soon cleared one end. Round to the back of the house & attack from that end. The trap that end is quite shallow & i made the mistake of pulling the drain snake out of the pipe too far with the machine running like a good un. In an instant it flapped out of the pipe hole & blew the trap clean. There i was absolutely dripping, i looked like i had been dipped in it. On my glasses (both inside & out) up my nose, in my mouth, ears & hair, as i stood there choking trying o clean my cakehole out with the inside of my jumper my trousers fell down round my ankles. My son nearly died laughing. Pity it wasnt on video cos it would have been one of the best vids on you tube ever.

One time at a job far far away, in another galaxy, work had a big pan of Alodine, green acid that makes a protective coating on Aluminum. Some one stepped in the tub. The foot prints to the bathroom ate into the concrete floor. We were told to pour it down the drain, everybody declined but one. He poured it down and We forgot about it. Next day the City drain cleaners showed up and asked what We did. The boss replied-nothing. Their boss said They were running a sewer cam about 1/2 mile away and the cast iron pipe was shiney clean all the way back to Our drain.. He told Us not to do it again.

There is a sweet spot in foul drainage for the fall: too much is as bad as too little. I think it is generally stated as between 1:40 and 1:80. If the pipe is too steep, the carrier liquid runs away and leaves the solids behind. The idea is that both solid and liquid travel together.
