Chemicals for cleaning ovenware?

I used the spray on oven cleaner/foam by mr muscle , works great , also good for decoking inlet manifolds ...and excellent for cleaning the black gunge off you screw driver handles .honestly .

....and also for carbonised pistons.....they're bright clean after about 10 minutes - just don't leave them too long

We just did our over chrome work and trays last week. Missus bought a box called oven pride which was a heavy poly bag and a bottle of thick sodium hydroxide gloop. Pop everything in the bag with the gloop and turn it over and over a few times to get it all covered then leave for a few hours. We left it overnight then it all cleaned up sparkling the next morning.

She also scrubbed the inside of the oven with the stuff. Wearing specs and gloves of course coz that stuff will definitely melt your eyeball.

Yes, I've used that on Rover V8 block and heads, and they come up like new, I got mine from Tesco last time.

We've used Oven Pride and it's very good. Obviously it takes a bit of elbow grease compared to when the professionals just stick the racks in a vat for an hour but it does work.

I clean and restore quite a few ovens from boats and I use knock off foam oven cleaner from B&M , the key is to wrap in cling film and leave it 24 hrs, that stops the chemicals evaporating off , scrub with wire wool soap pads and repeat if needed, sometimes the last bits of carbon won't budge and a credit card edge can break them up. I even use dental picks to get the last bits off.
