30 plus years ago I bought a set of no-name torx bits thast fitted into a 1/2" drive adaptor in a tin box from a stall on the market down The Moor in Sheffield when I was a student - I was fed up with using allen keys to try to undo the many funny screws on my Renault 11 - torx screws. Thwey must have been cheap - I was a student after all.

They've been leant on with long poles, used in air impact drivers, hammered into rounded off screws of all descriptions, lent to a mate who breaks everything, and they are still going strong.

I wish I knew who made them! If their other tools where as good . . .

Are they by any chance in a blue Hammerite kind of tin box with a cheap and nasty vacuum molded tray they sit in? If so I also had the same set. . About the only time I wasn’t completely underwhelmed with a cheap tool purchase

Us-pro impact sockets are pretty good... I wouldn't rate anything else though.
Sorry but I've broken plenty draper expert stuff over the years, its not amazing. Although draper allen keys (plain ball end ones) are pretty much indestructible, they're superb.

They can and do know how to make bits that wont break, Years ago I did a head gasket on an old Audi diesel, bolt tightening sequence seemed insane, something like torque +90 +90 warm engine and another +90, gurt breaker bar pullling off a 1/2" drive bit with one foot on the bulkhead and of all things it was a special made by Draper.

Problem with USPro and bergan is they are rebranders they don't make anything.

But neither do draper or sealey though they tend to have decent QC and are selective

If I see a set made by draper expert or sealey I will buy the USPro one which is the same set but priced much less.


I have some USPro hex and torx impact bits that have been absolutely hammered, no significant wear
