@Pigeon_Droppings2 What does the setting change over dip transfer? Higher volts and lower wire speed is presuming to keep the amps low? Is the polarity opposite to conventional mig also?
It’s something I’d like to try but haven’t got any practical use for really… but I’m well catered for with tig brazing should I need it.
The wire arrived this morning & just tried it out. Not a great success at first, but after a few minutes much better, this was with probably about 12 inches practice in total. One of the problems I had was seeing where I was going, ended up with the mask turned down to about shade 7. Overall happy with it, just need another welder to stop having to swap reels, financial controller …. Where are y
ou?
View attachment 414579So the thin metal technique of overlapping tacks is ok to use?
I've been watching this weld, com video about mig brazing.
His brazes look a similar to mine, not conventionally pretty or tidy. We know in welding that a rolling over bead is too cold and poor. I assume this is not quite the case with brazing then?
This makes me feel better, I think.
looks like he is using mixed gas
fillets should be smooth and wetted in at the toes typical septic tank welder
Think it depends what you are doing and maybe where you are based...for non structural repairs I think it's allowed. I've used it to repair door bottoms which can be difficult to mig as they tend to trap rust. Then sometime in the eighties I think they stopped it and all patches needed to be welded.
