Cheapest way to cut angle. I regularly make the same cuts over and over again

It definitely is vibrating a bit, it's a mitre 45 using the clamp on the rage 3 which isn;t very robust to be honest and the table the rage 3 is sat on isn't too robust either. Would the vibrations really make a difference?

Not sure it's the route cause of your issues but it's worth trying clamping it in with an appropriate spacer - a bit of box or something so you are pushing the vertical bit of the angle solid against the back of the vice.

I think exclusively cutting 45 degree mitres might be your problem, as you start the cut the edge of the TCT tooth will take the initial wear until the blade is fully into the steel whereas cutting at 90 degrees the cut is shared across the width of the tooth.
This might also be making the blade deflect on the 45 degree mitre making the edge of the blade rub as it goes through the cut.

This makes sense, the edge of the tooth wears down to be flush with the blade when is dull. Could be the angle and rubbing.

I use a Raptor, mitres all day long, love it, just BLOODY loud, Bandsaw is great for just let it get on with it cuts, but slow.. No problem with blades on my Raptor.

How many blades have you gone through??

Think we have tried that but really didn't notice a difference.

I'm reluctant to spend another £25 quid on a blade that will only do 40 cuts.

I use an abrasive chop saw for most jobs because it's what I have. I tend to cut outside with it and as for disc wear the one I have in now has been in about 2 years and cut 25mm rhs, 60mm tubing and everything I do in between. Only thing I found is don't use Machine Mart discs I had a couple and they vibrated like mad and dusted like crazy.

Oh man that's one a heck of a disc Seriously I assume its done no more than a full day cutting up yet or I am doing something seriously wrong

Get something that cuts slowly, with coolant if you can. Or if you don't mind the noise/dust as mentioned, an abrasive chop saw will be cheaper to buy and run than your current setup.

If they're anything like the cordless circular saw I had, you'll spend all your time changing batteries! Mind you, if you could fit/bodge it into one of those cut off saw stands designed for an angle grinder it may well do the job.

with the rage are you using metal blades or the multi purpose ones
talk to this shop tools are recon my rage saw came from him
the metal blade is a blue blade you may have to ask for them

I've had a rage for a couple of years now, the first blade dulled off real quick withing a couple of weeks, I always use a few drops of cutting fluid on each cut now and I'm still on the second blade.

It's the multi purpose blade, I haven't seen the steel cutting blade before.

Been using cutting fluid the whole time, tried different types from a cutting gel to oil.

What's the consensus on pressure on the tct blades, I've heard some people saying very little, or barely pushing on the saw. Others I've heard recommend steady pressure to keep the teeth cutting?

In my case hardly any, I just let the saw do the work, tbh it does not really require any to cut, I like to keep my blades tip top so I am reluctant to force any cutting, once blunt that's that and I am a tight fisted git so that helps keep it sharp.

You got a link to one of these blade, I think I've tried to look before but the rage 3 I have takes a 210mm blade. Am I right in thinking that it would be inadvisable to put in a smaller blade 180mm. I can see this size is available for the steel TCT blades

I just let mine pull its self through. Light pressure. If you try and rush it then it just knacker's the blade.

If I am doing a lot of cutting I use the air mist cooler the same as I have on my lathe and mill to cool it. Brilliant bit of kit that puts cutting fluid and cold air straight onto the cut but creates very little in the way of mess unlike a suds pump. Picture of it on the lathe attached. For use on the saw it just sits on one of those magnetic base things on the bench behind the saw.

Let us know how you get on, I'm using the multi purpose blades at the moment, I'd be interested to know how the steel ones hold up if you can get hold of them (I've never seen a 210mm steel one)

Will this do a 45 degree mitre cut, I'm a little confused with all the literature I can find. It says it can, but I can't see how with a fixed vice. To be fair I haven't used one for about 15 years so might be missing something obvious.

The fixed jaw isn't fixed - it can be moved as the fixing bolt moves in a slot. The dynamic jaw is free to swivel.

Good price on that saw, I paid £112 for mine, secondhand and well used, I wouldn't be without it now though
