Copper is heavier than aluminium and not as strong. To the post above, a monopod will be no where near stable enough remember you could be shooting up to 200 yards or further off sticks trying to put a 5.5mm bullet into an area of maybe 50mm diameter

No one has mentioned a monopod?

Also I'm quite familiar with shooting and how difficult it can be...Hence why I am making a stronger set of quad sticks...

Weight is t going to be much of an issue, I drive into the fields and only travel a few hundred yards at a time at night before setting up and calling again. Copper isn't going to weigh me down too much and if I can trade a bit of sturdiness for a bit of weight I am still happy

anything further than about 120 at night and its either taken off a bipod or not taken at all, id be very unlucky to have to take a 200 yard shot where i am

i assumed that was meant as using 4 of them to make some extendable quad sticks with them.

i have just found 6 garden stakes in the shed that i didnt know i had, they are thicker than the ones i am using now so should be sturdier...drill is in the car with the mrs though so will have to wait til she gets home to find out if they are better...if not i will go and get some wood

Well, made a set with the thicker canes, they appear to be stronger...tried them with the air rifle as it rather difficult to hold steady due to being quite light and got consistent small groups at 60 yards, then tried with the .243 with night vision scope and ir illuminator on it and managed 5 shots on target at 180. Even my mate was impressed with them and is taking them out tonight to see if he wants a pair made

What calibres have you got? Been told I am going to have to wait up to 9 months for my 2 rimfire variations but renewal is done now. Sod's law I have had a call since my renewal interview asking if I can sort some deer out when appropriate and also some boar...if he had called a few days earlier I could have got .308 on my variation as the land is clear for it...

6 weeks to get land cleared down here.
I need to get my FAC changed to ALQ and opened. Will put in for cf when renewal comes round as I keep getting asked if I sort out foxes.

i used to do foxes with the HMR when it before swapping to CF...100 yard head shots and they drop on the spot, but if you havent got ALQ or fox on your ticket then its a no no...i was thinking of dropping .223 for .204 for foxes but whats the point...yes the .204 has more over all power but its a smaller lighter bullet so much mroe wind deflection...

i wanna start getting into long range shooting, currently my longest shot with a .243 is 385 yards on a fox in dead still conditions with an experienced guy sat spotting for me and telling what elevation to alter...love watching mark ripley (260rips on youtube) taking long shots with his .260 but i havent got the space for it at the moment and local range is only 200 yards which is just soft play for the calibres i have...be interesting to get the rimfires back again especially the .22 as its got a terrible trajectory drop compared to CF rounds so be like learning to shoot again

I will probably go 22.250 or 22 hornet for cf as I like the idea of reloading could even go .223 not sure depends what my rfd can get in.

I love my .22. CZ 455 with Varmint barrel. Groups inside 5p coin at 80 yards. The rabbits don't like it so much. Haven't picked up a hmr yet, not really had the funds for the gun I want (anschutz) so haven't bothered getting one.

3/4" with a .22, which considering the power drop and pellet drop of a .22 air rifle pellet isnt bad, especially as its a battered old springer with more recoil than a rimfire...pellet on pellet at 40 yards which is better than i used to get with it

i have shot a few foxes with the .22 i had before, was a copy of a cz 513 and deadly accurate like yours...80 yard limit with it on foxes but did the job very well...

when i put a variation in to swap both rimfires for CF i bought a howa 1500 .223, total bargain with a mod, bipod, scope, sling and bag for 650, and a modified tikka t3 .243 but never got on with it so traded it for another howa in .243.

will most likely go for cz's for the rimfires when they come through again...synthetic 455's are quite cheap new and i have scopes for them already, mods arent expensive either so cant see the point in going second hand and getting something thats halfway to being shot out already
