Cheap/small order metal supplier in South East

hi all,

i have run out of sheet steel and the odd bits of box section i had, unfortunately the old source has moved. Company used to give me off cuts and the like.

Have looked on ebay and it all looks pretty expensive for box sction.

Where do you guys get off cuts or get small quantities of box/sheet? I am really only looking for odds and ends for a welding trolley and projects here and there.
Ideally in Surrey/Sussex

It's worth ringing round 'steel stockholders' that you'll find in the Yellow pages. After moving to a new area, it only took me 30 mins on the phone to locate a family run stockholder who would happily sell by the meter, not by the length, and open on saturday mornings etc.

Maybe i was just lucky, but i think it's worth putting a bit of leg (or finger) work in and doing some research.

Hi. I have found Any fabricator / sheet metal working company will usually let you " help yourself ".... if you approach them in a friendly way and dont walk out with their entire scrap bin. hehhaah..... put some money i the tea boat it always goes down well... have a look round your local industrial estate. even the scrap yards will sell you steel. hope this helps.
