How far out is the cut compared with using an angle grinder? It's box section I want it for
Well that's a tough one - I guess it depend on how good you are with an angle grinder!
It's certainly faster than an angle grinder, but for me it either cuts straight or it doesn't. And mine doesn't, so I don't often use it. To be honest I've never had a look at it to see why the blade moves from side to side, and if I could fix it I'd probably be quite happy with it, aside from the red hot shrapnel, but you'd get this even if it did cut straight!
Without looking, I'd guess that the sideways movement is purely down to end float in the armature. Maybe an easy fix? One day I'll have a look at it, but in the meantime I'll carry on using my old Stayer cold saw. That DOES cut straight!
