Cheap ebay toughbook

Thanks bigegg. I'm 100% positive it has no operating software on it changed round the drive boot order in the bios and still nowt. Tried having a go at the windows 10 upgrade but said I needed a windows administrator account to be able too download it to a USB stick. Any ideas how to get past that. So I take it that there is no drivers for windows 10 for the mark 1 isn't a big deal.

I dunno.
Mine came ready installed.
I got it cheap because BSOD, but it was just a loose memory stick.


I'm a bit out of touch with MS stuff since they stopped supplying it on 3.5" floppies, but i'm guessing there is a way for me to pull a list of the drivers i have installed.
If i can work out how, i'll pass it on to you.

Re Linux and diag software, easiest thing to do is install Linux Mint - usually from a USB stick https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html , (you can even run it live from usb) then use Virtual Box https://www.virtualbox.org/ to create virtual machines to run whatever flavour of windows is needed.
-Win 7 is available in VB as a "Trial version" that you can keep re-arming pretty much forever.

This way you can have internet, a browser and all the good stuff, but when you start the VM it is an isolated environment in a window - no internet unless you add it, no connection to the main machine, but easy enough to allow access through to anything like a VCI you plug in.

You can have several of these available to run different diag software completely isolated from each other and your main system.

Win 7 inside Linux

I have a tablet running Win 10 and Jag diag running in a Win 7 virtual machine. I also have a Linux Mint desktop with a Win 7 VM to run Picoscope software and the SAAB WIS.

I was looking at the toughbooks for the same application as the tablet I have I find the screen a bit small, in the end decided on a "business rugged" machine in the form of a twisty convertible HP Elitebook 2760p. I just won't jump up and down on it!

Cheers bigegg so that would seem to suggest that installing the mark 3 drivers in my mark 1 will be sufficient to run windows 10.
