Cheap Bosch combi drill

I had one of these. Paid twice that amount a few years back. It was worth every bit of what I paid for it so that is a bargain if it proves to be true. It’s not there full on industrial model but I tell you what it took a full time 2 year project with me using it 5 days a week including banging loads of 40 and 50mm hole saws into 5mm chequer plate before I killed it. She was a tough little drill to say the least.

They do postage too, £6 for most places, though £7.50 if you are in a remote area like me - still seems a good buy.

Collected mine today, 2 left so bought the the other for my BIL looks OK clearly old stock judging by the dust on them.

That’s a result. You can slap a couple of 4ah lumps in the box for another £85 and its then a proper bit of kit.

I've got a couple of the older versions of this (I bought one for personal use and picked another up for work use) - it's a great little drill, the 3ah batteries last really well on them so 2 x 1.5 ah should be fine. The chuck isn't as sturdy feeling as the higher end models, but for the price it's hard to complain.

I paid £90 each for mine when they were on offer from Screwfix with 1 x 3ah battery, and that was on offer and included a £10 off voucher, so for £60 and effectively the same ah battery it's a steal.

I picked another one up today as I've donated one of my others to my Father in Law - big thumbs up to @Revs1972

I also received the LI PLUS version, don't know if there's much difference from the non PLUS version as I couldn't find the spec sheet for that - here's the spec of the one I got...

A quick comparison between my older model and this one...

The new one is slightly longer and thinner, there have been some slight changes to the drill/screwdriver selector switch and vents/grips etc.
The new one has a speed range of 0-500/0-1900 rev/min whereas the old one was 0-500/0-1700.
The 1.5 Ah batteries do away with the status lights showing how much charge is left, but they are lighter then the bigger battery packs and the drill itself is very compact and light for a combi drill - not much heavier than my old Dewalt drill/driver which didn't have hammer function and a much lower speed range.
There's a 3 year warranty (1 year as standard, 2 extra when you register) and it comes complete with a plastic case.

I have Milwaukee batteries. I could buy a Milwaukee brushless fuel drill (bare) for about 2x the cost of this one.

It's not a clear choice.

I sympathise Julian I have a Hitachi cordless drill and would have been happy with a second body but in this case money talks the drill can be used as a standalone and disposed of when the batteries are done.
It does make me wonder about investing in one range of batteries I have earlier NiCad tools from Kress (remember them) and Hitachi but the batteries are completly different so tools are sat on the shelf with plenty of life in them just no power.
I will compare Hitachi and Bosch impact tools as that will be my next purchase.

Been and collected mine this morning, the box is a bit dusty as though it's been on a shelf for a long time, the contents are still in there original plastic bags. Happy boy.
