Cheap BOC?!

I got some gas today. First time, am new to MIG-ing.

Phoned up some local companies, ended up going to my local BOC merchange (Gwynedd Welding) on Anglesey.

Apparently... BOC have realised there is a massive 'hobby' market that is not really catered for.

To cut the long story down, I got the gas at 'about £30' per refil, no deposit and £4 a month rental! Was cheapest by far, so i'm happy!

Tis a size X bottle, apparently.

I've got the october 1st 2010 price list here and it says x size is £5.50 a month +vat and the £28.10 fill is +vat and + collection which is £11.90 +vat

it's not the cheapest for an x size anyway, rent free is cheaper, place here that does it is £50 refundable on return of bottle deposit, and £29.99 a fill, slightly less gas not much less, but no rent and no collection charge, so much cheaper overall.

He mentioned nothing about collection to me, and it was def cheaper than that. Ill see when I get a statement for sure

I looked at rent free etc, but there is none close enough to me. Once fuel and time etc is all taken in to account, this BOC deal is cheaper.

An i like Gwynedd Welding, cos they are a friendly bunch!

That`s what I`ve got too,plus £0.90 enviroment & energy charge.
Might not be so friendly once you see what they debit you.

You should have asked if the Volkszone offer was still available. From memory that was £50 per year inc your first full bottle. You need to phone the main office about the offer (do a search on here for the long thread about it with the number to call).

yeah might be a few pounds less if you got it before oct 1st, but thats about the price, they will have charged £11.90 ish for you to pick the bottle up too.

this doesn't seem to be bad a price, i'm currently using the volkzone offer which only allows you argosheild light, but i wonder if doing it this way means you can get puresheild or argosheild heavy?

I use Gwynedd Welding as well for some gas and they are helpful there, but use Key Gas for Argon and co2, did you get a quote from them?.

yeah an they were lots more than GWIS, they have started with expensive rent according to the person on the phone.
And i'd have to go to wrexham and back every time i need gas
