Hi, I'm looking for a cheap auto-darkening helmet. Folk on here seem to recommend either the Siflite or the Parweld XR914. I thought I'd go with one of these and then noticed people remarking that the units have built-in Lithium-Ion batteries that last between 3 and 5 years which cannot be changed without performing surgery on the helmet.
I probably go a year or two between getting the welder out and spending £40 - £50 on a helmet that I'll only be able to use 2 or 3 times doesn't make sense.
I've noticed a £55 SIP auto-darkening helmet that has 2 AAA batteries which can presumably be changed. The viewing area on this helmet is only 38mm x 93mm though (which is substantially smaller than the Parweld). Is the SIP helmet any good?
Can anyone recommend a reasonable helmet you can change the batteries on?
