Wifey asked me recently to pop down to see her cousin with my trusty scanner to clear a few fault codes as her car was Fubar.
I duly did as requested and turned up with said Autel scanner to clear said faults.
During a convo with her she informed me that she had just bought a Juke as the Audi had let her down. It had thrown a few codes and even after clearing them it went back into limp mode and threw a load more.
So I cleared the codes and drove it. It was struggling to do 20mph up a hill and immediately threw a code and went into limp mode.
She said she hadn’t part ex’d it against the Juke because of the faults. To me that was the ideal time. Said she probably would have taken a couple hundred for it. In the end I offered a grand and brought it home.
First issue was the turbo fault. I was aiming for the wastegate actuator but as there was historical MAF and boost sensor codes I bought all three for just £117.
Pulling off the vac pipe from the WA and sucking on it proved the WA diaphragm was duff as it was pulling air. The new one actuated the pushrod which adjusts the wastegate position.
At idle, the WA position was requiring 85% but it never moved from 14%. Pushing it down with a screwdriver it got to 85% and the vacuum retained the position so it would hold vacuum but not enough to drive the turbo position.
Anyway, when the parts arrived, all three were fitted and all faults cleared. Happily it would now drive as intended.
