Welding garden furniture.
Based on the advice above I bought an old Clarke welder and a disposable bottle of CO2 and welded up the leg on one of my garden chairs. (No previous welding experience.) I was delighted with the result, it looked very pretty. Regrettably that evening whilst sitting on the chair on my decking the leg fell off. I suspect poor penetration. I fell from my decking into my pond, killing two Koi carp and frightening the hell out of my cat.
Why on earth do people advise the home repair of garden furniture when it can have such catastrophic (no pun intended) consequences? There should be a law against it. :-)
