Building a front wheel drive Autograss car I spent hours trying to eliminate Ackerman - it was putting unnecassary loads on the inside CV joint - more angle on full lock than it wanted..
Correct ackerman, as opposed to the inverse ackerman it started with when I bought it, massively reduced understeer on my competition car.
Removing the as bought horrendous bump steer brought considerable improvement too - an inch of movement or more at the wheel rim either side of ride height – changing from an inch of toe in, to an inch of toe out from full droop to full bump
Perhaps it would be helpful to explain - autograss is flat out dirt racing, 8 cars, first past the post wins.
