Changing brushes on Clarke Contractor 115mm grinder?

Had a few flames shooting out of my angle grinder this evening and having left it to cool down it now only responds with a clicking sound when the trigger is pressed.

I'm hoping its just the brushes, could anyone share how I go about changing them? Had a look online at a manual but it didn't say anything about changing them or even where to find them for this model.

Don't bother.

Junk it buy new.
If you had flames coming out of it the cables will be damaged. The Rota will need skimming, cleaning. The brass Brush holders will need cleaning.

The hassle of finding decent brushes of the correct size and rating is not worth the grief.

Buy new.

if its clicking that means a winding has burnt out and the pickup segments come loose and arcing . bin it

I have the correct brushes, because it came with a set in the box; which is why I find it odd the manual - online because I've mislaid the print one, doesn't say anything about changing them.

If people think it's knackered though, I'll bin it and get another; just thought it was worth checking the brushes first, but as I can't figure out how to get to them may be better just binning it before opening it up.

Need one reasonably quick to finish off the table; wouldn't mind a cordless one though.

And try to go against the natural instincts of a Yorkshire Man (deep pockets and short arms...) and buy decent angle grinder something along the lines of a Metabo.....

Well I can't stand dumping stuff if there is a chance of fixing it and what have you got to loose apart from your time? even if you break it trying to get into it there is nothing lost.
That said I would still get a replacement you can't have to many grinders I have 5 or 6 grinders in my garage and that's just for DIY

Odd thing is, I have had a B&D grinder. It came with a spare fuse and bushes.

Turns out the bushes did not fit and the fuse was the wrong rating.

So because it comes with some, don't assume they are good.

Take it apart and post up some photos of the commutator, it might be salvageable and as you have spare brushes isn’t going to cost anything other than a little time. At least you will have the satisfaction of knowing it was goosed when it went in the bin.

I bought a Bosch CSB470RLE drill in 1981, it’s had a lot of abuse over the years but now like Triggers Broom as I collected a few broken ones from a place I worked for spares.

might not be the commie. i took one apart with similar symptoms last month and it was the bearing gone....
new bearing, and brushes and its all systems go

use the head for mounting disks in a chuck
