Just reserved one of these. Similar thing is £40 in Aldi, 3 year warranty though and perhaps better quality. You can buy the Bosch blade set for £10 if you buy the multi tool.

The corded version is £4 more if you prefer that. Seems a good deal so thought I would pass it on.

Well, reserved one and picked it up yesterday, plus the half-price Bosch blades. Only had a quick go but very impressed for the money. Feels solid and sturdy, certainly up to the job for our occasional use. Off to Aldi in a bit to see if they have any of their blade sets in, as single blades are £5 or more at Screwfix.

I bought the cabled version today and have had a play..also very impressed.

Have ordered a full set of blades of evilbay, cost nearly as much as the machine but a full range of cutters and scrapers in a nice ali case.

That's the one's I bought probably won't be the best of the best but only for hobby use.

take it from me the blades are excelent. i use the coarse ones every week and they outlast the bosch that are trebble the price

Great to know, I got the 13 blade kit.. bit of everything, not bad at a couple of pence under £2 a blade and a nice aluminium case to hold them in.

Marlin, is this for your car project? If so, what applications do you see for it? I hadn't considered one of these.

I've got a mains multi tool. With metal cutting blade it's great for slicing heads off seized bolts. The scraper is good for removing underseal and seam sealer.

Both for the car and use around the house. I was sanding off a bit of surface rust in the boot with it yesterday and it did an ok job. Sometimes you don't always want to get the angle grinder and gear out and have the sparks flying, so I think this will come out when there is a small easy job.

I hadn't thought of getting one til I saw our builder cutting plastic pipes with his Aldi one and saying how good they were. I had thought of getting the £40 Aldi one but couldn't justify the cost for the amount of use it would get. At £22 it's not such a waste if I only use it occasionally.

Brightspark - thanks for the info about the blades. The cost of the blades was also putting me off, so good to know there are decent ones available at reasonable cost.

Just looked on ebay at the Saxton blades. Very cheap compared to branded ones at Screwfix etc. I bought the Bosch set for £10 because that was the half-price cost if you bought it with the tool, but the ebay ones look much better value. You get 3 blades in the Bosch kit, plus an adaptor, so £3 a blade.

The tool comes with a plunge blade and saw blade, so the Bosch kit is a duplication of those really. If you buy the ebay ones you have a wider choice of blades.

Bought the tool for all general house work and have just used it to remove 10mm from the bottom of a door frame to allow flooring to slide under, amazed how easy and clean the cut was, made it look like I knew what I was doing.

I first saw one of these gadgets in the hands of a spark who shortened some plastic conduit without disconnecting or damaging the cables inside. Soon as I had a close look at it I bought a Bosch machine. It's one of these 'how did I live without?' tools.

I bought the Netto mains powered version a few years ago to cut some window frames to remove them and they are spot on for plunge cuts. Also used the sander attachment a few times. I bought some new blades from Lidl last time they had them in, they are good quality.

i only use the wood and plastic ones . when cutting out the grouting on my floor tiles though i shortened an old blade and cut a diamond segment out of a 4 inch circular cutting disc and brazed it on lasted ages and cut like a gudun i did try silver soldering a piece of high speed hacksaw blade on one but it was unsuccessful
