Chain saw blades by post

Any stand out suppliers please? I use it for chopping up pallets and scrap wood. It's not hard work for it but nails and stone strikes are annoyingly common.

It's for a Makita DUC101. The specs are:

Bar length 4" / 10 cm
Number of Drive Links 26
Chain division 0,325"
Chain Gauge 0,043 "
Chain Gauge 1,1 mm

From looking at the pictures on Makita's website, the chain type seems to be 80 TXL.

It is possible to find lots of people supplying this specification chain, but with a lot more links. The only ones in this specification I can find with the correct number of links are genuine Makita ones.

Maybe look for someone who makes chains to order (like you would buy a motorbike chain) and see what they could do.

It's a chain not a blade and you cut with it, hatchets and axes are for chopping. Reciprocating saws are better for rough work but if it's what you've got then go with the maker's supply.. If you want to get some made you need the pitch, gauge and the number of drive links. The price for those chains looks high for what they are.

I'll grant you the chopping correction, but there's at least one cantankerous argumentative old git who disagrees about reciprocating saws being better for the job.

I always buy Archer chains from Ebay. Cheap and cheerful as I always end up hitting nails or stones.

Most of the baby saws of chinese origin use 1/4" pitch 1.1mm chains, which will need less cutting power. It may be cheaper to get some of those and a 1/4" pitch sprocket, this would likely fit - there is a GTA26 owner on here who may be able to measure the shaft dia to confirm..

I have a spare 1/4"P 4" chain and bar if you want them.

There are a few making the chains, but you'd likely need to get them custom made to length. Yours needs 26 DL.

Rotatech are good for the bigger style 1/4" pitch and bigger chains.

Well there's a lesson. I should have ordered one when I could, I can't find anyone with any in stock now and the only place I found on the web who would make and send to order haven't got any chain. Everywhere else had drop down lists of model numbers and mine wasn't any.

Conversion to a different pitch may be on the cards.

Very few places are going to stock .325 1.1mm chain rolls. It would be no issue to shorten longer chain except getting the spare links to do it.
On my baby fakita, I ground off the links to shorten and then put a blob of weld to secure it. Worked quite well for a baby saw - I would trust it on a doc101 but not on anything petrol powered for safety reasons.

If you measure sprocket I can tell you if the mini saw sprockets fit, they have 10mm bore with 8mm flats on the shaft.
My larger Fakita has 12mm bore and 10mm flats and had to bore out the mini one to make it fit when I did the 3/8" to 1/4" conversion.

For 4" you can use your existing .325 bar if its not got a sprocket on the nose. Just need chain and sprocket.

6" you can get the set with sprocket, it has sprocket nose on the bar so only work with 1/4" chain.

They do, and after a couple of phone calls they'll post 2 of them out to me. I've not ordered from them before, the postage being a bit steep for small stuff to out of the way places. Very helpful staff, Richard in Leyton and Darren(?) in head office sales.
Depending on which courier they use I may have them by Monday.

From my reading, 1/4" uses less power for the same cut and being much cheaper/more available is a good advantage if there are nails in your wood - as you say pallets..

However I do like the idea of shortening longer chains and a couple blobs of weld on the pins which I have done for another low power battery saw.

Just reuse the links, if it's a new chain they won’t be worn. You just have to be careful when taking the chain apart

I use a cordless circular saw,
or a chop saw ,
quicker and less mess than a chain saw..

The issue with 80txl is you can't get it on a roll or joiner links for making your own. Where 1/4" are readily available.

Perhaps but each manufacturers is different and I dont see it available on rolls. I think Stihl 1/4" is all full size, unsure about the GTA26? Where as Echo use "A4S Sugihara Micro Chisel", that is much smaller, but also happens to be *identical* to the chain used in the chinese 1/4" mini 4-8" pruning saws. I would like to get a roll of that.
I may end up buying 4-5 packs of the chinese 8" chain, which is 45 DL, and combining to make 60 DL chains for the 10" Echo.
