Your advice will be much appreciated so many thanks in advance.
I am making some new pins for a ransomes mower and have run into a problem. I had some 30mm round bar and the pins are 30mm, however when i cut them to length and put a champfer on the end I tried to fit the collar there is no way its going to go on. So I have been trying set up my old myford lathe to take a tiny bit off the bar but the bar is too thick to pass through the hole in the middle of the chuck & head stock . I wanted to do this to centre drill it.
My problem is Im having real difficulty trying to get the bar to run true using the fixed steady so i can centre drill it to put the live centre in to it.
Am i doing the right thing or is there a better way to do this ?
Cheers Tom
