I have tried to do some research but a lot of it is fluid and others info is quite old. It would seem the cheapest way of getting a gas supply for my MIG welder is from Central Auto Supplies.

Before I take the plunge has anyone got any better ideas for the kidderminster area??

yes mate but the first one I phoned (hallow in worcester) said they dont supply rent free cylinders. So I guessed it must be out of date.


also tried gasman off the forums be he has not replied so I guess he has gone??

yes I guessed as much severn gas supplies only supply for existing customers with bottles.

As far as I know Gasman is still going, he supplies the company I get my gas bottles from.

I think the company is Target Tools and Equipment and they are based in Gloucester. Its worth getting his number off yell.com (I'm not sure if the mods would want me posting his number)

Central Auto Supplies CAS Birmingham 01213595500 are still doing 95%argon/ 5% co2 bottles 20L 20.7kg filled to 220bar? (cant be 20 bar? can it?) about 3.5ft high cylinder.

Picked mine up this morning, most impressed. No annual charge, just a deposit and then a refill charge(swap) when empty. About £165 inc vat, bulk of which is deposit. Refills are £65 ish inc vat?

Comparing to air liquide no rental cylinders, this is cheaper every refill, and it's local. no association apart from happy welder.

Looked at loads of different suppliers but none were close enough to be viable with fuel and cost. Not many gas suppliers deliver round here due to courier handling problems.*

*local courier refused to deliver more than 3 laptop batteries as they said they posed a chemical hazard, we had ordered 30 10 parcels and second attempts later they all arrived.
