Cellulose v 2 pack

My project car has 2-pack on it and that is cracking and fading. 2-pack will deteriorate if not cared for. Its easier to polish cellulose up as the paint is softer. Look at a nicely prepared celly car in black and you will be amazed.

2-pack finishes if not worked on have an orange peel look to them- just look at the panels on just about any repsrayed boy racer/ chav car!

Its certainly not 2-pack everytime. I have used both and for classic cars (pre 72) celly is my preference, later cars 2-pack.

I used cellulose for twenty years before 2k became popular so have had more than my fair share of mopping couldn't believe how much easier 2k was when I first used it 2k being Acrylic is very flexible , just look at a 2k painted bumper after an accident most of the time the paint finish will not be broken , providing you polish 2k as soon as its dry it's easy to polish , the Astra in the link above was polished with just T Cut and by hand and was easy. Most problems with paint finish is usually down to poor preparation or application , too much paint can cause ' crazing ' which is perhaps the cracking you mention and trying to ' cover ' the crazing with another coat of paint wont work unless you use a sealer first.If your talking pre 1960's cars I might consider cellulose for heritage reasons but 2k for everything else.

It is now possible to get non iso 2K. Damned if I can find the link I had now though. No idea what its like in terms of application, quality or durability, but may be something to look into.

I would always prefer cellulose for the reasons prev given such as retouching chips & small damaged areas, but also with cellulose if any rust forms underneath it comes through and can be dealt with, whereas with 2k by the time it comes through there is a big hole under!

Makes you wonder why they bothered designing 2K when celly is so brilliant

celly versus 2k

any classic vehicles that were originaly painted with celly should be repainted as such if u want a show winning car . if u want a good durable long lasting finish on any motor 2k is the answer . anyone that hasnt used 2k has never lived its the dogs bo;';';';cks

If you want the slightly less shiny look of celly just add 5% matting agent.
