Hi Ill start with saying im a complete novice at welding and new to this forum so hello.
I own a type 2 camper and will inevitably have to get some welding most yrs for the MOT so i have decided it would be a good idea to practice a bit welding and have found one of the above for sale.
A few questions is this a gas/gasless welder?
Any good?
Easy to use?
any problems with this type to look out for?
Will it suit my requirements of auto care and occational hobby welding?
Any idea what price would be reasonable for a good condition one?

Gas only, they're a good hobby/diy welder. I recently sold mine for £120, it was a bit scruffy but working fine.

Hi

I've been using the snap-on version of this welder for the last 20 odd years with the odd maintinance to it and have been very happy with it. I've used it on everything from car repair work , to build a pair of gates , to building the garage we now use with no big problems. The car work has been normal mot repairs to full restoration/rebuild and even to a pick up conversion.

The one time it did stop working on me in the middle of a job my dad bought a new machine mart welder , as soon as I'd finished the job I sort the problem ( a relay ) and prefer to use it even now.

Decent welders but nothing spectacular so don't get all doe-eyed about them. They often sell for way more than they're worth, especially the ones with snap-on plastered on them.

Iv bought it. sold for 65 quid which is great but when added to the 30 postage becomes normal but wanted a new toy so what the hell haha
