Hey guys! Long time no see.
Wondering if you may be able to help me out with a temperamental plasma cutter.
I got it on eBay as "untested" but that meant "broken". Doh! It didn't come with a torch and the guy I got one from wasn't sure it would be the right one, so the problem may be torch related...
So I pull the trigger and the machine will arc, but just for a second then switch off. Air flows just fine, and I have a moisture collector on the line (read somewhere, moisture could be a problem).
The contactor (pic attached) makes a funky noise while the trigger is pulled. Makes a similar noise to a tig welder that hasn't got the earth connected. A friend has said that this noise could be a wiring problem, that there is insufficient voltage to make it contact properly...
So basically, have you any thoughts on the issue? Don't want to just jump in and buy a new contactor if that is defo not the problem...
Cheers,
Burf
