Hi I hope someone can assist.
I have just purchased a used CEA 205 electronic arc welder.
Due to lockdown I had to purchase unseen.
Delivered to the door. Eager to try it plugged it in (32a feed) pile of bits of scrap from 3mm to 12mm mild steel and a hand full of dry warm rods. (the mrs does so like them in the airing cupboard with the clean bed clothes)
Proceeded to glue various bit of steel together. Not over impressed! Doesn't seem to work as it should. Never sounds like its working hard. On one occasion nothing at all no arc at all.
I changed the leads because the supplied ones were a strange shape in places. So made a set from the leads off my old lister 300a diesel welder which sadly damp siezed this winter. (Bloody Welsh weather) It worked a little better. It never sounds like its really pulling current(not technical the only way i can discribe the lack of performance).
The guy I bought it from had only just purchased it himself. Sold it because didn't have access to 32amp feed. Contacted him on the matter. at which he told me that he had tried it only on the 415v setting. Which it flew along at
Can anyone suggest what the problem might be? If there is a solution or should I back it ASAP?
Please help Steve
I should of said its for on farm repairs. So not in constant use. But a few pre season jobs I need to address as soon as possible.
