One of the things, along with part P (not qualifications, just shelling cash out to be in a club) that closed my business down. I was doing automatic gates and a few years ago measurment of operating force began to be expected, 2 grand for the machine. Not too terrible though if yourworking to businesses and can lock them into a service contract- but for me, hopeless!
Auto gates need CE marking as well according to the course I did a few months ago.
Yes, same thing Al. I must be honest and didnt know about it until i recently subscribed to a couple of forums for BCSA.
It isnt mandatory yet, but not far off.
Unfortunately we will need to do it. About 40% of our work is structural steelwork. The big boys we work for will no doubt be aware of it and asking to see compliance.
You any thoughts on it oh wise man Al![]()
So do normal garden gates and railings come under this ??
Any Idea Snowcat when its likely to become Law?? and whats the miniumum amount a company has to fork out for compliance with this??
You should be able to meet all the compliance without any cost only time, no doubt as always there will be firms who will be trying to make a fast buck from this.
When it becomes mandatory like machinery, the HSE will set the guidelines out to follow. Here
As I said most decent fabricators will already be working ABOVE the guidelines, and in all honesty the Minimum standards of a CE mark are pretty pony.
